This week, meet a freelancer from the Philippines: Louisa Mercado, a personal assistant and transcriber. What’s life like in her neck of the woods?
Name, admitted age and how old you feel?
Louisa Mercado, I’m 33 but I feel like I’m still 26! I think that’s a good thing, no? 🙂
Canuck or Yankee? or Other?
Other, I’m Asian and from the Philippines
What do you do as a freelancer?
I’m a Personal Assistant and Transcriber.
Still employed or freelance all the way? Or still dreaming of freelancing?
I’ve been freelancing since 2011 and going strong. I love my jobs!
What song are you currently listening to over and over and over again?
Tik Tok by Kesha! Do you see why I still feel like I’m 26???
Who was the last person you said “I love you” to?
I said I love you to my 2-year-old son this morning.
How would you describe yourself? Glass half-full or half-empty?
I’m a pretty positive person and always give people the benefit of the doubt. I look at things half full all the time.
Do you have a private stash of junk food? If so, where do you hide it?
Yes! I hide it behind all the other food in the fridge. My family knows my obsession with chocolate and they usually let me have the sweets.
Chocolate or chips?
Chocolate all the way!
iOS or Android?
PC or Mac?
Best vacation ever?
The one and only vacation my entire family has had (though my youngest was still in my tummy!) is to the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City. We’re hoping for more vacations soon. 🙂
What’s one item on your bucket list?
To go to Italy, hopefully some day…
What do you constantly tell your children to stop doing that you do yourself?
Sadly, I’d have to say cursing. I know it’s a big no-no but when you accidentally drop something it sort of just blurts out…
Could you give up your cell phone for a week?
Yes, as long as I was with my family.

It’s awesome to meet a fellow freelancer who’s “grown in the Philippines” and also loves chocolate!
