In February this year, I posted an income challenge to myself. My goal was to earn $1000 a month in affiliate income at the end of six months.
It is now six months later, and I’m here to announce that I have failed at meeting this goal.
In terms of income, I did accomplish my target amount in a few of the past six months. However, this additional income has not been from affiliate blogging, as I had intended.
Instead, I got sidetracked by client projects. Those ended a couple of months ago. I also originally planned to find more clients over the summer. But then I decided I really wanted to enjoy the summer with my kids rather than working more. (At least, I accomplished THAT goal. We had an awesome summer!)
Now back to square one with my goal.
It’s embarrassing to admit I’ve failed, but I have. There’s no way around it.
And I’m not giving up.
I have come to the conclusion that, to earn additional income, I don’t want to take on more clients. Instead, want to scale up my affiliate blogging.
Taking on more clients and/or projects just makes me stressed out and burned out. And I don’t enjoy my work anymore.
I’m reissuing my income challenge to myself. By the end of February 2014, I will be earning a steady $1000 a month on affiliate blogging.
This time, I know what I want to do. I’ve even identified a couple of people who are already doing what I want to be doing. I’m going to be watching them and maybe even learning from them formally through coaching.
What are your business/freelancing/career goals for the next six months? What’s your roadmap for getting there?
